Top tips to take the stress out of filming

Producing a film for your business or organisation can be stressful. There’s no getting away from it – there’s a lot to think about and to organise.

From budgets and filming locations, to working out who will write the scripts and how to use the equipment correctly – it can be treacherous terrain when you’re not an expert in the field.

So with April being home to #StressAwarenessMonth, we thought we’d give you our top tips to lessen the stress that can come with producing videos for your brand:

Plan

Make sure you properly prepare before filming begins – rule 101 – don’t try to wing it! Having your ducks in a row before you start filming can reduce the stress ten-fold. Often people can fail to prepare adequately because they don’t think about all the areas that need their attention. We get it – when filming isn’t your day job, and you’ve not experienced all the various challenges that come with it – there’s a lot you can miss when planning!

We’ve noted a few areas you should consider before picking up a camera in our blog on budgets here.

Be flexible

While planning is vital, even the best-laid plans can go off course – so be prepared to adapt if circumstances change. Have backup options ready for if filming locations fall through or someone can’t make it on the day. Being ready for different eventualities means changes to your plan won’t phase you too much when they occur.

Be resourceful

Have an idea of how much footage you have available already that you can repurpose. You’ve probably got more than you think if you’ve shot a video before! By knowing this prior to filming you’ll know what you already have in your back pocket to work with. This can lessen the pressure slightly with regard to finding new content on the day.

Hire professionals

Hiring a professional film crew with extensive experience is the number 1 sure-fire way to remove the stress for you.
