10 Video Marketing Tips To Take Your Business To The Next Level

When it comes to video marketing there’s a lot of competition and so it’s important that your business stands out amongst competitors. Here are our top ten video marketing tips that will take your business to the next level, ensuring you get all you can out of video marketing.

  1. Upload and Use On Social Media

76% of businesses who use video marketing say it has helped them to increase their website traffic and a lot of this will have come from social media. Ensure you upload a marketing video to all the business’ social media platforms to give it the best chance of being seen and shared among users.

  1. Ensure It’s Branded

Whether you have company colours or a specific font, it’s important that any video used for marketing is branded accordingly. This helps to create a strong marketing message across your digital platforms and helps with brand awareness.

  1. Consider the Project’s Aims and Objectives

There’s very little point of making a video for the sake of making a video and video marketing needs to focus on marketing something specific. Do you want to sell a product? Do you want to reach out to a wider audience? Take the time to think about the message you want the video to convey and what you want to get out of it.

  1. Choose a Style That Works With The Target Audience

There are a lot of different styles when it comes to video production and one of the top video marketing tips is to choose a style that works well for your specific audience. An audience of mainly young teenage girls is going to enjoy a very different style of video to an audience of men in their 30s. Get to know your audience and find out what works for them.

  1. Get The Timings Right

Statistics show that the average watch length of an online video is 2.7 minutes; this means you have 2.7 minutes to engage the audience. Length really depends on your propose for the video. We’ve produced videos for YouTube up to the length of 12 minutes – but that was a special case! Our average is actually 2.5 minutes or under. Though longer videos are able to include more information and allow a business to go into more detail, it’s rare that someone will watch it in its entirety, so length must be dictated by purpose + audience + style. The 12 minute film we produced worked because those elements were considered and looked at in detail. A general rule of thumb for a modern, online promotional film, is to opt for a shorter video that makes an impact.

  1. Only Use High Quality Videos

Nearly 80% of all internet users say they would rather watch a video than read about a product, so it’s important that the video is high quality. There’s a lot of competitive in video marketing and only high quality videos make the cut, so don’t settle for anything less than the best.

  1. Include Company Information

Whether or not the video is promoting a service or product, don’t forget to include company information in some way. This could be a website address, a telephone number of the logo.

  1. Use CEOs and Executives to Personalise the Message

Often, a business’ video can appear robotic and this creates a certain level of disconnection between the business and the audience. By using CEOs, executives and staff within the video – whether this be through having them on camera or by using simple quotes – a level of personalisation is added. This can help the business to feel approachable and trustworthy.

  1. Keep It Clear and Concise

Don’t try to overcomplicate a video message as you run the risk of your audience becoming disengaged. Keep your message clear, concise and to the point. If there are more details or further information you want your audience to see, consider directing them to a dedicated web page.

  1. Encourage Video Sharing

70% of internet users stated that they have shared a business’ video with a friend or family, or they shared it on a social media platform. This highlights just how well encouraging your audience to share a video can be. Sharing a video automatically increases the number of people who are watching the video and this audience increase can lead to more leads and more sales.

As an example, the below is a short social media video we created when producing a larger promo for our client. This short video allows for quick, direct advertising of specific services in a dynamic and interesting way. At 15 seconds long it’s quick and easy for clients to watch. Produced without sound it allows anyone to watch anywhere!

The above social media video is a great tool for businesses but, of course, it’s so short that the information that can be expressed is limited. That’s why we produced it (and other social media videos) alongside their main promo. This not only gives the client more content but is also a very cost effective way to do so.

As mentioned above the length of a film is very important. This final example below is the 2017  promotional film we produced for MidKent College. The video came in at 5 minutes, which may be long by some standards but, as mentioned above, not every video can live by the 2.7 minute rule. In order for this film to work at 5 minutes we made it a pacy, impactful film that draws you in and, hopefully, the five minutes fly past!
